‘Know Your Stats’
with Saint Agnes
This year, more than 192,000 American
men will learn they have prostate cancer–
more than four times the number of fans who
can fill Bulldog Stadium. The good news is, men who
are diagnosed early can beat it. Even better news…men can beat it faster
and return to normal functioning sooner with the latest treatment option –
da Vinci
®
robotic prostatectomy – considered the gold standard for surgical
prostate removal. (Read one patient’s story – page 8.) Saint Agnes Medical
Center, the American Urological Association and the National Football
League are teaming up, once again, to share this good news with Valley
men and encourage men to “Know Your Stats About Prostate Cancer.”
Onward and upward
On the heels of celebrating our 82nd birthday and
announcing the appointment of our new president
and CEO, we have another great story to share.
Make that our top story. Back in 2005, when Saint
Agnes Medical Center’s 230,000-square-foot North
Wing was added, the sixth floor was left unfinished
for future growth. That time has come.
One of the most exciting results of our 6-North
build-out is the extra private rooms it will add –
28private medical/surgical beds and 8 critical-care
beds. Once completed, space will be freed up in
other areas, allowing for the eventual opening of
a senior emergency department to cater to the
special needs of our growing senior population.
Construction is expected to be completed this
fall, with 6-North ready for patients by year’s end.
